Postdoc position / Research Assistant
The project focuses on animal studies on the effects of social observation on placebo and nocebo responses in a rat model of depression.
The position is limited until 30th june 2028. The starting date is as soon as possible. The position is fulltime with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H, E 13).
Location
The project will be based at the Department of Psychology, research group on Social and Affective Neuroscience, Prof. Dr. Markus Wöhr, University of Marburg, Germany.
Your tasks

scientific services in research
-
planning, conducting, and analyzing animal studies in the domain of behavioral pharmacology
-
establishing and performing neurobiological quantifications and interventions
-
expansion and deepening of the research field also within (inter-)national scientific collaboration (e. g. KU Leuven, Belgium; Peking University, China) as well as relevant publication activities („peer-reviewed“)
This is a project position that is not limited in accordance with § 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG.
Requirements for the postdoc position
- MSc-degree or equivalent in psychology, biology, neuroscience or comparable
- at least a very good doctorate
- evidence of expertise in conducting animal experiments (FELASA equivalent) and substantial research experience with laboratory rodents (measuring behavior, for example using genetic and pharmacological manipulations, experience in measuring ultrasonic vocalizations is advantageous), ideally in the context of models of affective disorders, documented using relevant scientific publications (“peer-reviewed”)
- substantial knowledge of statistics and statistical programs (e. g. SPSS)
- advanced knowledge of programming languages (Matlab and/or Python)
- high level of motivation, teamwork and organizational skills and willingness to take responsibility
- very good knowledge of spoken and written English
